Ecotune Stage 3 Software is an advanced performance calibration designed for vehicles equipped with significant hardware upgrades that allow for major increases in airflow, fueling capacity, and thermal efficiency.
Unlike Stage 1 or Stage 2, which operate within the limits of mostly factory components, Stage 3 is engineered to maximise the potential of upgraded turbochargers and supporting systems.
Stage 3 software delivers:
Substantial increases in horsepower and torque
OE turbo spool and improved power delivery depended on Turbo Charger
Optimised boost control, ignition timing, and fueling strategies
Enhanced high-RPM performance
Improved efficiency under load with proper supporting hardware
All Stage 3 calibrations are developed and validated by the Ecotune Calibration Team to ensure maximum performance with safe, reliable operation.
Note: Actual figures vary by platform, turbocharger size, hardware fitted, fuel type, and overall vehicle condition.
Typical Stage 3 improvements may include:
+80 to +200+ horsepower over Stage 1 depending on turbo size
+100 to +250+ Nm torque
Higher sustained power at high RPM due to improved compressor and turbine efficiency
Sharper throttle response and enhanced mid-range punch
Increased top-end power where factory turbos restrict performance
Final gains are determined during calibration sign-off once all hardware is confirmed and vehicle health is verified.
To support the increased airflow, heat management, and fueling demand, the following upgrades are required or strongly recommended:
Upgraded turbocharger (hybrid, big-frame, or platform-specific unit)
High-flow cold air intake
Turbo inlet pipe / high-flow turbo ducting
Front-mount or upgraded intercooler
High-flow charge pipes (platform dependent)
Depending on the platform:
Upgraded Low-Pressure Fuel Pump (LPFP)
Upgraded High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP)
Larger / high-flow injectors
Optional: ethanol-compatible fuel system components if running E85 blends
High-flow downpipe (sport cat or decat – where legal)
Upgraded exhaust system supporting increased flow
Optional: larger intercooler outlets or boost pipes
Oil catch can or PCV upgrades
Upgraded engine mounts (platform dependent)
Performance clutch or upgraded DSG/TCU software for higher torque applications
Improved cooling (oil coolers, radiator upgrades) for high-stress use
Ecotune Stage 3 Pre-Tune Requirements
Your vehicle is booked for Ecotune Stage 3 tuning.
Before any calibration work begins, a full pre-tune inspection must be carried out. This inspection is essential for several reasons:
Safety & Reliability – Stage 3 software places significantly higher demands on the engine, fuel system, and supporting components. The inspection helps confirm where possible that the vehicle is in suitable mechanical condition and safe to tune at this level.
Correct Hardware Verification – Stage 3 calibrations are designed to work with specific performance hardware. Incorrect, faulty, or incompatible parts can lead to poor performance or serious engine damage.
Ensuring Accurate Calibration – Knowing exactly what hardware is fitted allows the Ecotune Calibration Team to build or select the correct software version, ensuring optimal power delivery, drivability, and reliability.
Preventing Avoidable Issues – Discovering problems before tuning prevents wasted time, unnecessary costs, and potential mechanical failures once the car is operating under increased load.
As part of the pre-tune process, we must confirm all performance hardware fitted to the vehicle, including but not limited to:
Turbocharger
Cold air intake system
Turbo inlet pipe
Low-pressure fuel pump (LPFP)
High-pressure fuel pump (HPFP)
Upgraded injectors
Intercooler, downpipe, exhaust components, or any other performance-related modifications
This information ensures the calibration matches the vehicle’s exact setup.
Software Approval Requirement
All software must be reviewed and signed off by the Ecotune Calibration Team.
The vehicle will not be released in a tuned state until this approval process is completed.
If the customer insists on taking the vehicle before calibration sign-off is complete, the vehicle will be returned to stock software prior to release.
Stage 2 - Although not a requirement we do recommend a Pre-Tune inspection on Stage 2 tuning also.
